Town of Whitby

           The Town of Whitby, named after the seaport town of Whitby, Yorkshire, England, was established in 1850.The natural harbor on Lake Ontario was Whitby’s main asset and was used to ship grain across the Great Lake. Also, Whitby’s history is filled with excitement and mystery which is portrayed by the monument standing on the location that was once occupied by Camp X, a training facility for spies during World War II.

The population of Whitby is Approximately 112,802 + and growing.

  Centennial Building - Currently houses the Whitby Courthouse Theatre,  a 

     banquet  facility,  local archives and is used by community organizations.   

 Built in the 1850's as the Ontario County Courthouse.
